How Much Cars/Trucks have Changed in Terms of Looks

Image
Cars and trucks have changed so much in appearance since they were first made, they've even changed drastically from cars and trucks thirty years ago. Cars and trucks have always changed appearances based on technology, style choices of the time, and most of all what sells the best.    A good example to think of is the 1921 Ford Model T, now compare that to the 2021 Ford F-150. The only things they have in common is the Ford logo. The engines are vastly different, the size of the body of the vehicles is different, the power it makes is different, you probably get the point by now that practically nothing is the same other then them both being trucks. You cant even say that they both run off gas exclusively, because ford is releasing EV f-150s starting 2021.           It's not just ford that has changed greatly, look at Dodge Ram over the last thirty years. Thirty years ago Ram was still producing "square-body" trucks (squa...

The Power of the Automotive Community

Image
This post is about how much power people truly have over the auto industry. Think about it, people literally are the industry, so if a large enough amount boycotts a company it can cause bankruptcy within weeks. People can refuse to buy from a company for safety reasons, public alignments, or because they lose trust in their brand. one company that has had repeated cases over unsafe is General Motors (GM). they've had issues with faulty ignition switches in 2014, they were sued for dangerous airbag chemicals in 2008 (Dolan | Dobrinsky). These cases drew huge settlements, with the faulty ignition switches settling at $400 million dollars, and the airbag case settling at $28 billion dollars. Both cases drew millions of people that filed cases. This is partly due to social media and more people being bale to connect and hear about the cases. That is the power of the internet, to spread information easily, quickly to mass amounts of people.  ( Accounting Today. GM to pay $1 milli...

Law Enforcement Vehicles Here V.s There

Image
Law Enforcement vehicles range in all shapes, sizes and uses. You have the one seater parking enforcement vehicles of the NYPD, to the Lamborghini Gallardo used by Italian law enforcement (Wright, Ian). Each of these vehicles serves a special purpose, the parking enforcement vehicles are small, compact, easy to maneuver so they can be out of the road or pull into narrow streets without holding up traffic. While the Lamborghini is to transfer internal organs to hospital quickly, or transport medical supplies or blood to crash sites (Wright, Ian). My point is that all law enforcement vehicles are rooted in some form of utility and that utility can vary tremendously.      For example having a hyper-car police cruiser in Hopkinton would be an absolute waste of money because there is no need for it here. we don't have a problem with hyper-cars on our roads or have the money to pay for one with no real repercussions. While a dodge charger for example is quick enough ...

Fear of Technological Advancements in Cars

One constant fear people have is that robots will take over and/or wipe out humans. Not only is this fear completely irrational, its quite honestly a pathetic excuse as to why technology hasn't been able to expand with certain aspects of cars. Like self driving, AI infused cars, or even just having computers in cars at all is always "scary" to people. I'm however not saying we need self driving cars but i am saying being afraid of them because they'll "try and kill humans" is just absolutely ridiculous. They may be not ready for mass production but that doesn't mean they wont be soon. Tesla's that drive on the road now have self driving features. However it can mess up as it is a recent technological development.       In the past couple years tesla has been urged to work on their semi-autonomous features repeatedly by groups like the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). However Tesla has never responded to these urges even though the...
