How Much Cars/Trucks have Changed in Terms of Looks

    Cars and trucks have changed so much in appearance since they were first made, they've even changed drastically from cars and trucks thirty years ago. Cars and trucks have always changed appearances based on technology, style choices of the time, and most of all what sells the best. 

  A good example to think of is the 1921 Ford Model T, now compare that to the 2021 Ford F-150. The only things they have in common is the Ford logo. The engines are vastly different, the size of the body of the vehicles is different, the power it makes is different, you probably get the point by now that practically nothing is the same other then them both being trucks. You cant even say that they both run off gas exclusively, because ford is releasing EV f-150s starting 2021.

    

    It's not just ford that has changed greatly, look at Dodge Ram over the last thirty years. Thirty years ago Ram was still producing "square-body" trucks (square-body is the nickname for this era of trucks as they were very angular). In 1989 they unveiled the Cummins powered dodge ram trucks, which was the first time Cummins had put one of their diesel engines a pickup truck. Dodge and Cummins weren't the first to put diesel engines into trucks as Chevy did it in '82 and Ford did it in '83, but neither of those diesels are as highly revered as the original Cummins engine put into the ram trucks, the 5.9 Cummins. In the truck world this engine is highly revered for its reliability and power. Four years later in 1993 Dodge would introduce the second generation Dodge pickup truck, they did this to modernize their pickup trucks from the square-body aesthetic. This truly set the tone for what the pickup truck would look like for the coming years.

    It's not just trucks that have changed drastically look at the Chevrolet Corvette, that has seen some extreme changes in the last two years alone. It went from being a front engine muscle car, to a mid engine sports car. Corvettes were first produced in 1953 as a slow but "sporty", front engine inline six making 150 horsepower car (Fink, Greg). With a top speed of 108 miles per hours. Now they're fast sports cars with a mid engine v8 making 495 horsepower. Combined with a top speed of 194mph. nowadays you can barely even compare the two as they are so different from each other. The Corvette's original designer wanted to make the corvette mid engine as he took a lot of inspiration of the European sports cars of the time (Fink, Greg). Chevy never went through with it for multiple different reasons. So they went on with a front engine sports car for sixty six years before finally making it a mid ensigned vehicle.
